Release: Album # 3 plus christmas market

0047 proudly presents the third issue of the fanzine ALBUM published by the artists Eline Mugaas and Elise Storsveen.

The launch is, not suprisingly, colored by the christian tradition of the season (Jesus has a guest appearance in Album#3) and will feature an exclusive christmas market:

Seven artists have been invited to create unique christmas editions.

In Album#3, Mugaas and Storsveen explore the condition of the lonely male and his search for meaning and love by reorganizing and juxtaposing appropriated images. By highlighting the formal connections between pictures culled from diverse sources, the collections reanimate the past into a narrative that is completely modern.

The images in the Album zine series have consisted simply of found advertisements and photographic illustrations from old magazines and books, but their arrangement here suggests a far more compelling meta-narrative involving sex, gender, and the human body. The collected photographs were found at flea-markets around Oslo, and reflect the type of popular imagery found in typical Norwegian households during the early 1960's through the 1980's and beyond. Materials were sourced from books and magazines focusing on etiquette, medicine, cooking, crafts and travel. And, of course, being from Scandinavia, sex education manuals (and the odd porn magazine) were also included.

ALBUM #3 is printed in an edition of only 200 and the price is 100,- NOK.
