1/32 and Bloody Eclectic

August 26 - September 10, 2005

Opening reception: Friday, August 26th 7pm

At Friday 26th of August, 1900 hours, 0047 proudly introduces their fourth season with the young artists Bjørkås/Andreassen.

----
A 1970 Ford Mustang driving through a dark forest at dusk, a sterile reception area with a fake merbau forest skyline, and the comfortable atmosphere and fragmental totality of cinema perception. In the dark and humorous world of the Norwegian artist couple Bjørkås/Andreassen, the American movie acts the leading role in an entertainmentization of mass communication.
----

Exploring the language of mass communication, the installations of Bjørkås/Andreassen include elements such as pictures, interior design, movies, sound tracks and stage set architecture. “Everybody wants to make a movie,” the artists state, referring less to the wish of making a Hollywood blockbuster, than to being able to use the tools of the movie, the montage of the film trick and the rhetorics of representation, to communicate a message or a convincing story.

The installation 1/32 and Bloody Eclectic consists of three works, Mise-en-route, Treetop Drive and Escape Route, all presented in separate rooms. The different works both place the spectator and present related thematic elements in three different contexts, playing with scale, speed, media and spatial atmospheres. Hence the installation demonstrates the situation specificity of the interpretation of a message while at the same time hinting on possible bigger narratives connecting the works.

Kyrre Bjørkås and Rune Andreassen first started their collaboration at the Academy of Fine Art in Oslo in 2001. Since their graduation in 2004 they are working full time as a team, having presented their works at several group shows in Norway and abroad, released an EP and worked with stage sets for theater productions.
