Punk. Architecture.Technology.

July 29 - July 29, 2005

Opening reception: Tuesday, July 29th 5pm

0047 is proud to present the architects Brendeland and Kristoffersen in the exhibition PUNK. ARCHITECTURE. TECHNOLOGY. in Berlin. Combining cutting-edge wooden building techniques with urban development in a punk-occupied city-area in Trondheim, Norway, the young architectural office Brendeland & Kristoffersen has made a project that challenges the way buildings are planned, financed and built. The result is a striking design for a high-rise wooden building, which encompasses themes such as alternative culture, punk spirit, experimental architecture and national forestry politics. What first started as an irresolvable political conflict between squatters and municipality has today resulted in a completely unique low-cost ecological housing project.

The exhibition at 0047 will give a wide and comprehensive presentation of the finished building and the intricate process which lies behind the creation of a building. It will also give a thorough presentation of the unique residential area Svartlamoen which shows us an alternative model for how we could develop our cities and neighborhoods. The exhibition will include an extensive display of models, photos, video and text.
In addition to the exhibition a replica of one of the bedrooms of the house will be erected at the DESIGNMAI main venue in Edison-Höfe. This will give the audience an insight into the many advantages of massive-woodbuildings, and also show the unique atmosphere and architecture of this project.

“Brave New Worlds – Design for a Better Future?“ is the focal topic of this years DESIGNMAI. It aims to
examine what answers design and designers have to issues impacting the future. It is anticipated that several thousands visitors will visit the festival.

The exhibition is supported by:

NTNU Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art

Klöpferholz GmbH & Co
