Year of Architecture 2011

In 2011 the National Association of Norwegian Architects is celebrating its 100th year. 0047 was commissioned to produce the anniversary. The result; The Year of Architecture, a nationwide, one year long program exploring architecture's role in the Norwegian society.
The Year of Architecture will be the largest architecture event in Norway ever made. Over 100 small and large projects across the country will, through 2011, challenge, expand and enrich Norway’s relationship to architecture, cities and its surroundings. With everything from TV programs, exhibitions, debates, publications, conferences, tours and even building projects on the agenda, the Year of Architecture represents a diverse chance to learn about and experience architecture.
The overarching theme of the Year of Architecture, "Endringsrom", focuses on how today's society’s massive and rapid transformation challenges the traditional role and practice of architecture. Climate change, increasing urbanization and new technology changes the conditions for spatial production, and the Year of Architecture will focus on why it is, now more than ever, a need for a better and broader understanding of how architecture can respond to society's needs. The Year of architecture is funded by NAL, Ministry of Culture, Enova, Moelven, Kinnarps, YIT and Aspelin Ramm. 0047 has been responsible for programming, financing, and the development of the year's communication platform. 0047 is also managing the year's main event, the Architecture Festival in Oslo in September.
